Wally Stock WINS 12th Feature of the season at Latrobe Speedway

****FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE****

Wally Stock WINS 12th Feature of the season at Latrobe Speedway

Latrobe, PA (AUG 24, 2024): At age 62, Wally Stock shows he still has the ability and the drive to win in the PA Thunder on Dirt Vintage Modifieds.

Stock from nearby Kecksburg, PA, picked up his 12th win of the PA Thunder on Dirt Vintage Modifieds season.

Other feature winners were Clinton Hersh (K2 Engineering FASTrak Pro Late Models), Corey Faris  (Joe’s Body Shop & Towing Pure Stocks), Tylar Huffman (Special T-Metals Mod 4 Cylinders), Dylan Nedrow (Marilungo Disposal LLC Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders), Bryan Hensel (Dean Pollock Hobby Stocks), and Steve Longo in the PA Thunder on Dirt Sportsman Division.

The visiting PA Thunder on Dirt Vintage Modified Racing Series was first on the track for the evening.

In the Modified, Wally Stock started in the 12th spot and went up through the field as Mark Hahn tried to keep Stock in the No. 1 from grabbing the lead. Steve Longo made his way, battling both Modifieds and Sportsman cars. Stock and Longo were looking to clinch titles, Stock in the Modified and Longo in the Sportsman division, which they both did by the end of the race. The series will return to Latrobe Speedway for Fall Fest.

Hahn finished second to Stock, third went to Gene Wrightstone, fourth to Longo (first Sportsman division car), and the fifth spot went to Bill Stile in the 8+8. Heat race winners were Don Gelet and Stock.

In Joe’s Body Shop & Towing Pure Stock feature, Corey Faris started third and battled John Hollis and Joey Koteles for most of the race. Faris took the lead on lap seven from John Hollis. Unfortunately for Hollis, he would fall back to fifth but finish fourth behind Jeremy Zufall, who climbed from the seventh starting spot. Koteles would hold on to the second as Zufall made his way to finish third. Koteles won the Heat race.

The 20-lap K2 Engineering Fastrak Pro Late Model feature had the making of a barn burner when point leader Braeden Dillinger was forced to start last as the 14D lost a wheel in the Heat race and was towed to the pits, not completing the Heat race.

Clate Copeman started on the pole with Clinton Hersh on the outside of row one. Hersh grabbed the lead out of Turn one from Copeman and never looked back to claim the win on his birthday. The caution flag flew on lap 19 and bunched the field for a Green-White-Checkered finish. Hersh would finish second, with the K2 of John Over finishing third, and the fourth spot went to Jeff Furgeson, with Copeman finishing fifth. Dillinger could never get untracked to finish sixth. Copeman won the Heat race.

In the Special T Metals Modified Four Cylinders, Andrew Jones in the 513 and Tylar Huffman in the 19H made up the first row. Huffman would grab the lead from the start but not with pressure from the field. The duo of Colton McNaney and Jeremy Grubbs started seventh and sixth, respectively, and battled their way to the front to finish second and third, respectively. Fourth went to Andrew Jones when the checkered flag flew. The story of the race was the 24 of Tifani McElhose. McElhose started 15th after a problem with the clutch and shifter. Remarkably, the black No. 24 went through the field, gaining ten spots to finish fifth.

“I started last, and I got to get up front,” McElhose said post-race. “We’ve been having car troubles like crazy. Whenever I’d pass someone, I’d say, ok, let’s keep going. Sometimes, I feel better when I start from the back; it’s fun to pass a bunch of cars. Trust me, I’d rather start in the front so I have a shot at the win,” McElhose said with a smile.

Jones and Huffman won the Heat races.

To pick up his first win, Dylan Nedrow started sixth in the Marilungo Disposal LLC Strictly Stock Four Cylinder feature. He was third on the first lap and progressed to the lead on lap eight of the 12-lap feature. Seth Nedrow in the 26 started seventh and finished second after winning last week. Brian Noel started on the pole and held the lead until losing it to the 16 of Dylan Nedrow. Noel would hold on for third.

Bryce Hensel won by three-one-thousandth of a second over Dontae Boggio, Scott Casto finished third, and Justin Connors in the Dean Pollock Hobby Stocks was fourth.
