SEIPPLE TAKES PENN OHIO PRO STOCK TOUR OPENER AT LATROBE SPEEDWAY

LATROBE, PA (JUNE 1, 2024): Josh Seipple took the $1,200 winners check home to Franklin, PA, after an impressive run in the Homak Pro Stock Touring Series season opener at Latrobe Speedway.

Other winners were Braeden Dillinger in the K2 Engineering Pro Late Models, Matt Weltz in the Joe’s Body Shop and Towing Pure Stocks, Tylar Huffman was victorious in the Special T Metals LLC Modified Four Cylinders, Justin Conners won in the Marilungo Disposal LLC Strictly Stock Four Cylinders, and Bryce Hensel won in the Dean Pollock Hobby Stocks.

The rescheduled Penn Ohio Tour date from May 25 brought eleven Homak Pro Stocks to the big half-mile speedway.

Josh Seippel took the lead from the pole with the 55C of Brandon Connor on his tail. After a caution on the opening lap, Jeff Broniszewski made his way up from the eighth starting spot to third on lap 6, with Chris Schneider in fourth and Chase Lambert in fifth. By lap 10, Broniszewski moved into second, with Connor in third, Schneider in fourth, and Doug Iorio in fifth.

After several cautions, Seipplel fought off charges on the restarts from Broniszewski coming out of Turn 1. There was a tremendous battle for third with Schneider, Connor, and Marty Spade. With five laps to go, Broniszewski had several looks to Seippel’s inside but couldn’t make the move for the lead.

The caution flag waved with one lap to go, extending the twenty-lap feature. At the drop of the green flag, Seippel felt pressure but held on for the win. The real battle was for second place, as Schneider was all over Broniszewski, but the Coraopolis racer held on for second. Schneider was third, Brandon Connor was fourth, and Barry Faris finished fifth.

“I definitely like coming here,” Seippel said in Victory Lane. “It’s smooth and fast, we were really hauling the mail.”

Heat races were won by No. 28, Doug Iorio, and 55c Brandon Connor.

In the K2 Engineering FASTrak Pro Late Models, John Over in the beautiful K2 led 17 laps from the pole position before getting a flat tire on lap 18. Clinton Hersh, Troy Shields, and Clate Copeman were so close you could throw a blanket over them. Braeden Dillinger came from the seventh-starting spot to third by lap 6. Dillinger battled Hersh until the 14D got the second spot by lap 10. John Over had a dominant race car until the flat occurred on lap 18. Dillinger would lead the rest of the way, with Hersh in second; Clate Copeman was third, Troy Shields was fourth, and Jay McCraken was fifth.

John Over won the Pro Late Model Heat race.

There is a new Sheriff in town for the Joe’s Body Shop & Towing Pure Stocks. Matt Weltz picked up the impressive win over John Cain, Jim Zufall, and Jeremy Zufall. Corey Faris led the first nine laps before a flat tire on lap ten would derail his efforts. Kevin Koloshinsky in the 88K came from ninth to finish fifth.

Jim Zufall and Matt Weltz won the Heat races.

Tylar Huffman was victorious in the Special T Metals LLC Modified Four Cylinders. The 27 of Joe Jacobs had the lead until going to the pits on lap 11 for a foul-sounding engine. Huffman’s 19H started in the sixth position before making his way to the front and took the lead on lap 11. Dale Grubbs was second; Brian Spangler was third; Brad Dickey was fourth and Brandon Myers fifth.

Joe Jacobs and Brian Spangler won the Modified 4 Cylinder Heat race winner.

The Marilungo Disposal LLC Strictly Stock Four Cylinders saw Justin Connors in the No. 21 battle with Brian Noel at the start of the twelve-lap feature and would continue throughout the event. Connors would take the win by .354 seconds over Noel, Bud Lawver was third, Dan Shortman fourth, and Dylan Nedrow finished fifth.

Justin Connors and Dylan Nedrow were the Heat race winners.

Jason Deiter led laps one and two in the Dean Pollock Hobby Stocks before bringing out the yellow flag in turn two. Dontae Boggio led laps 3-6 before Bryce Hensel took the lead on lap 7. Hensel was followed by Justin Connors, Vincent Kolishinsky, Boggio, and Dieter. Saturday was a feature-only event.
