Run Run Rudolph and Mad Dog Dominate Night 1 of Fall Fest at Latrobe Speedway

LATROBE, PA (September 20, 2024): Erick Rudolph won the 35-lap BRP feature, while Michael Duritsky came from third to win the Rick Frazee Memorial. Other winners on Night 1 of Fall Fest were Noah Swank, Bob Pease, and Dontae Boggio.

Just like the lyrics in the Christmas song Run Run Rudolph, Erick Rudolph was the mastermind at Night 1 of Fall Fest in the BRP Big Block Modified feature. Rudolph was whizzing like a merry-go-round around the big half-mile Latrobe Speedway. Dave Murdick and Brad Rapp would lead the field of seventeen ground pounders to the green flag. Murdick led the first seven laps, but something broke on the 61, relegating Murdick to a sixteenth-place finish.  After starting in the fifth spot, Rudolph methodically worked his way through the field, reaching the top spot on lap 8. Rudolph also turned the quickest lap during the race, 20.267 seconds. Krummert challenged Rudolph several times, but the 29 could never get by the BRP point leader. “I didn’t have a good start,” Rudolph said. “We dropped at few spots at the start, but was able to pass a few cars early on and was able to reel in Garrett (Krummert). I am not sure we had anything for the 61, he seem to have something break going into (Turn) 3. It was our first time ever here and to have a good car early on and to win is something to be proud of,” Rudolph said in Victory Lane. Krummert would finish second, Rex King Jr was third, fourth went to Colton Walters, and Rick Regalski rounded out the top 5. Rudolph and Regalski won the Heat races.

In the 40-lap Rick Frazee Memorial for the K2 Engineering FASTrak Pro Late Models, it was Rick Frazee’s son-in-law, Michael Duritzky, that bested Ryan Montgomery, and Rick’s son, Ryan Frazee to collect the $5,000 first place prize.

Ryan Montgomery and John Over led the field to the green flag. Over would lead the field for the first four laps in what might have been his last race as a driver. Duritsky started third and worked his way to the front by lap five. Ryan Frazee started his Dad’s memorial race in fourth and was determined to be a factor in the forty-lap feature. Frazee worked his way to second before falling back to third at the finish. Montgomery was the most consistent driver in the feature, challenging Duritsky several times to take the lead. Duritsky ran a strong race, not allowing Montgomery or Frazee to get close enough to steal the win. The Frazee Memorial was Duritsky’s first K2 Engineering FASTrak Pro Late Model win of the year. Montgomery was second, Frazee was third, Kyle Lukon started sixteenth and finished fourth. PPMS regular Tommy Shirnhofer came from eighth to finish fifth. All cars passed the post-race technical inspection, and the final results are pending post-race tire testing. Montgomery, Over, and Duritsky won the Heat races.

In the Special T Metals Modified 4 Cylinder feature, Noah Swank from Somerset in the No. 40 took the win from the fifth starting spot. The most impressive run was from Colton McNaney, who came from the twentieth starting spot to finish third. Joe Jacobs started on the pole and led laps six through nine before settling for second. Brandon Meyers finished fourth, and Andrew Jones finished fifth. Jacobs and Tylar Huffman won the Heat races.

The Marilungo Disposal LLC Strictly Stock 4 Cylinder feature was the Gary “Newt” Nicholson Memorial. Bob Pease in the 0p started outside the No. 26 of Dylan Nedrow in row 1. Pease would grab the lead in Turn 1 and never relinquish it. Buddy Lawver started third and finished behind Pease in second. Third was Nedrow; fourth went to Dan Shortman, and fifth to Travis Shaffer.

After starting fourth in the twelve-lap event, Dontae Boggio came out on top in the season’s final Dean Pollock Hobby Stock feature. The second spot went to Bryce Hensel, and Justin Connors finished third.
