Ferree Wins ULMS Thriller Over Miley at Latrobe Speedway During Mid-Season Championship Night

Latrobe, PA (July 21, 2024): Alex Ferree had a dominant Rocket on Saturday in the Dave Kittey Memorial at Latrobe Speedway.

Other winners on Saturday were Troy Shields in the FASTrack Pro Late Models, Cory Faris in the Joe’s Body Shop and Towing Pure Stocks, Paul Koffler in the Special T Metals LLC Modified 4 Cylinders, and Justin Conners in the Marilungo Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders.

Ferree, Jared Miley, and Gregg Satterlee were swapping positions early in the 30-lap ULMS feature before Satterlee suffered a flat right rear tire late in the race.

The feel-good story of the Dave Kittey Memorial was Dan Angelicchio’s run from fiftieth to third at the finish. Angelicchio and Dave Kittey are cousins, so this race was special for the family. Angelicchio set fast time in qualifying and led his heat race before he suffered a flat tire.

Ferree and Miley set the front row in the feature. They went into Turn 1 on the first lap with the field in tow when six cars got together. After a lengthy caution, all drivers emerged unhurt, sans a few hurt feelings.

Ferree, Miley, Satterlee, Jon Lee, and Mike Duritsky assumed the top five spots when the race resumed. On the Delaware restart, the top three battled for position.

On lap 12, the top three were Ferree, Satterlee, and Miley. Satterlee tried to wrestle the lead from Ferree on the restart. Another caution came out for the 1GRS of Daniel Hill on lap 16.

Angelicchio moved up to the fifth spot after starting 15th with twenty laps down. With 24 laps down, another caution waved, with Ferree, Satterlee, Miley, Lee, and Angelicchio rounding out the top five.

Ferree would have led the most laps, collecting $100.

With six laps to go, Ferree and Miley lead the field to the green flag. On the restart, Angellichio grabbed the fourth spot. Satterllee slows with a flat right rear, ending his bid for the win. This caution would move Angelicchio to third, Lee to fourth, and Andrew Yoder to fifth.

With four laps remaining, Miley tried to beat Ferree into Turn 1 with Angelicchio knocking on the door of Miley. Ferree stretches his lead to collect the Dave Kittey Memorial and $5,000.

Miley finished second with Angelicchio third, fourth went to Lee, and fifth to Yoder.

Heat race winners were Satterlee and Ferree.

Through donations from Dave Kittey’s family and friends, we could award each team that finished second through tenth $150. Teams that finished 11th through 17th were awarded $50.

In the K2 Engineering FASTrak Pro Late Models, John Over in the K2 led the field to the green flag with Troy Shields on the outside. The field stayed the same until lap 15 when Over went pit side with a mechanical issue.

Shields took the lead on lap 16 and took it to the house. Braeden Dellinger was second, followed by Noah Brunell and Jay McCracken.

Dellinger won the Heat race.

In the Joe’s Body Shop and Towing Pure Stock feature, Cory Faris took the win over John Hollis, John Cain, Jeremy Zufall, and Ron Ramsey. Faris was scheduled to start fourth but started on the inside of row 2 when Matt Weltz (717) didn’t make the call.

The Modified 4 Cylinders, sponsored by Special T Metals, featured a little of everything, including a fire in the Heat race and a flip in the 12-lap feature.

Tifani McElhose (24) had a fuel issue that ignited a fire under the hood on the front stretch. McElhose quickly excited the 24 while the flames were extinguished.

Jeremy DeGlau complained of shoulder pain after a nasty flip between Turns Three and Four on lap 6.

Paul Koffler III started outside row 1 and rode it to the finish, followed by Tyler Huffman, Colton McNaney, Jeremy Grubbs fourth, and Chris Myers fifth.

Heat race winners were Tyler Huffman, Jemery Grubbs, and Joe Jacobs.

The final feature of the evening was the Marilungo Disposal LLC Strictly Stock 4 Cylinders. Justin Connors (21) finished 0.497 seconds in front of Seth Nedrow (26). Paul Koffler III finished third, Buddy Lawler fourth, and Brian Noel fifth.

Dylan Nedrow and Paul Koffler won the Heat races.
